Got a complete rolling chassis for free

Drug it home the other day. I was told it was from a 64 Bonny. I checked the codes on the engine. This is what I found.

Engine code 38P
Vin starts with 8 63 S
543797 heads.

So, this crosses over to a 63, 303 hp, 4 bbl, automatic with A/C.

I gave it a squirt of gas & put a set of jumper cables on it. Engine fired up!

I don't have my books with me. Can someone look up the "8" & let me know if this is a Bonny chassis or maybe Catalina?

863S (8)CYLINDERS, (6) 26 SERIES/STARCHIEF (3) 1963 (S) SOUTHGATE CA. that's my guess

I know 63 is the year, S is Southgate plant. #8 would designate the model number. I just don't have my books with me to look it up.

8 63 S

8 = Bonneville
63 = 1963
S = Southgate, CA plant

Yep!!! Free is my favorite 4 letter "F" word! Right up there with Food!! Don't know what I am going to do with it yet. Need to check what ratio is in the diff. Probably in the high 200's,,, Maybe 273-292.
