1963 Grand prix brake booster same as a Catalina ???
 

trying to find a brake booster for my 1963 grand Prix
all I can find is for Catalina /Star Chief /Bonneville
does anyone know why it wouldn't fit ???
or what is different ?

even if I need a different master to use this booster I will
I need to buy new master cylinder anyway

weren't there two different boosters for '63, Bendix or ??? you should verify which one was original to your car. I think I got mine locally at NAPA.

I was told mine is a Delco Moraine
because it has the cup in the center

my brake booster is a Delco Moraine

from shop manual
The bendix brake unit can be identified by
its all black color and its rectangular master cylinder
reservoir

TheD elco Moraine brake unit can be identified
by its circular reserve bowl of the master cylinder
and vacuum cylinder having a bayonete type fastened cover

GP should be the same as Catalina (or all the big Pontiacs for that matter).

Don't worry about the cup in the middle. They make it up with a longer rod in the booster. Also Gp is full size car like the Cat.

Autozone kept giving me the wrong one so I got my money back and went to O Reilly's and the parts manager informed me it will work so I bought his and installed it and it worked.

The linkage that hooks to the pedal comes off your old booster to be used on the new one.

so your saying the Cardone 54-71325 will work ??
or what was that the part number you used
and what master cylinder did you use

I can't remember the brand or part number but whatever O'Reillys pulls up is what I picked up. I also used the replacement one line master cylinder that Autozone sold me. Most of the stuff is rebuilt like mine I turned in will be. Hope this helps you.

Cardone 54-71325 power brake booster ( Catalina brake booster ) will work on the Grand Prix
it looks a little different bolts right up

pictures attached
has coarse thread 3/8-16 bolts through firewall and to hold on master cylinder (new nuts supplied )
instead of 3/8-24 fine thread

my car is no 100 point correct car it is a driver
and I was quoted with shipping 230 to 250 to rebuild mine through cardone and others
with a 2 1/2 to 4 to5 week turn around
the Cardone 54-71325 was 100 shipped to my door ( no return core needed )

the master cylinder which dosent have the screw top
was a generic from inline tube
60-66 GM Drum Brake Single Master Cylinder 1" Bore

the pin that pushes the master cylinder just needed to be screwed out a couple of turns
I never bought a booster that didn't need a little adjustment on that screw

I am keeping the old parts
may be I will win the lottery ..and have them rebuilt one day
or the next owner can

and there is no difference in brake pedal feel to me
