Super Duty Flex fan
 

I'm starting to wonder if this is the correct fan for my air conditioned SD. Its a seven blade 18 1/2 ish diameter with no numbers on it I can find. The only thing I can find stamped is "engine side". Problem I'm having is that it squeal's the belts, and is very noisy while driving. When I first got the car it squealed the belts so I tried new belts with no help. I eventually pulled it for a seven blade with a clutch setup. Not getting good enough cooling with that setup, I went back with the flex. Does it look correct? The car spent most its life in California so I'm wondering if this is a replacement for the hot weather. I just left a car show looking at a 70' 400 formula with a five blade flex, and that fan looked very tame compared to mine. A/C cars came with clutch fan not a flex fan. Here's mine:

So the rigid flex I currently have is aftermarket and incorrect?? Anybody know where I can find that clutch and blade setup? used or new? I picked up an aftermarket with 7 blades but I don't think its the correct diameter and shape and struggles to cool.

I have a new Super duty clutch and fan for sale. mounted and ran for about 30 min. never on the road.

"super duty" meaning heavy duty aftermarket, or original 73/74 trans am/formula super duty?

ok, thanks for the pic, but currently I have a very similar fan that isn't doing the job. I'm looking for the correct # fan, but unfortunately don't know the correct part number.

I had switched to a 7 blade with a clutch setup the first go around when the flex was roaring and squealing the belts. That setup was very similar to the 7 blade shown here for sale. I have several clutches, from new to drag strip "low on fluid" units. I just wasn't happy with the cooling temps, That's why I went back with the 7 blade flex temporarily until I find the correct super duty clutch "fan". I would prefer to have the correct super duty fan and tailor the clutch to my liking, rather than the wrong fan and have to use a heavy duty clutch to make up for not enough fan. Hopefully I haven't just confused everybody.

This is what I am looking for!

Here is a stock set up '72 Note the edges of the outside edges of the fan blade, its almost square, adding to its total surface area. The Blade itself has a date. I sold one to NJ Steve for ( then) his '72 Formula. This pic is same one on "Keepat" car.
This set up has been PROVEN to use the Least amount of Horsepower.

Looked at SD build sheets and didn't see one using the 480035. All with A/C showed 34-PL. Here are pictures of the one I'm repainting now, for obvious reasons. Numbers are on the side where the clutch mounts. Stamped are BC 73 and NOV (it is a November built '74 Formula and fan should be a 34-PC, approx. 18-7/8" wide). No other numbers that I can see.

Also, keep in mind that the problem with new fan clutches is that they are no longer calibrated to low temperature 1960's and 70's cars. They are set to lock up around 200 degrees - for a larger range of uses in modern cars.

They are easily modified to lock up earlier. You'd be amazed at the difference. Here is what I did on the new clutch that I use in the Gramma car. Temps went from 200 to 170 after the modification.

yes, I did read your write up, and have plaid with the clutch springs in the past. I would just like the correct fan before I do much work on a clutch.
