70 GTO Headlight buckets

Trying to put a 79 GTO front end together. How many different headlight buckets are there. 2 left and 2 right or a different one for each position?

I meant 70 not 79.

I'm pretty sure they are specific for each one. The adjuster position comes into play.
Lemans, tempest etc will work also.

Figured it out, just had to experiment with the different positions. Thanks Steve....

If you look closely you should see a letter code (I think it was A, B, C & D) on them too.

Any idea which letter code goes in which position?

It's been a while, but I thought there were 2 LH and 2 RH.

RH - 9799928
LH - 9799929 (both cast backwards on them. 9299979 and HL)

The A thru D ones were on a 71 endura car I did 5 years ago, I can't recall for sure but it seemed like it was left to right starting with A on the left(?)

I went thru a box of misc headlight buckets I have here & the ones with legible letter codes were all over the map.....some OC, R, O, D etc. The code may have depended on the supplier or year so it's probably not the best way to tell where they go.

The high & low buckets are different. There is a set of 3 locating tabs on the back of the bulbs and those set in notches in the buckets. If you lay a high and low bucket on top of each other you'll see the difference in one of the notches. The pics show the difference in the notches, it is small but enough to keep the bulb from fitting. The first pic show a low beam bulb in a high beam bucket. When you see a car with a headlight bulb a little off looking they probably have the wrong bucket in that position.

The easiest way may be to put your bulbs in first then lay them out in their proper orientation (left & right, high & low). The adjuster slots will be on the top and outboard sides.

Oh, buckets, not bezels. Sorry about that.

AH, I see now! Thanks guys!

I guess I will have to mod a couple then, since I want to use hi/lows in all 4 locations. For high beams, would like to have all 8 elements on.

I pulled out some notes last night on one of my '70 GTOs and have listed...
DS, outer - A
DS, inner - B
PS, inner - D
PS, outer - C

Thank you very much!
