Needed: 317 V8

A fellow old GMCer has found that the engine in his '56 GMC (Pontiac) V8 is cracked in one cylinder bore. If you have a good '56 block for sale he'd be interested.

If he can't find a replacement it isn't necessarily that bad to get the cylinder sleeved (depends on the degree of damage, of course.) My brother's working on an old IH pickup that needed one cylinder done and it wasn't that terribly expensive.

Kudos on keeping it all Poncho.
If he comes to WI for the POCI meet next summer, I know of several.

He's considering a sleeve.

I've got one. It a 56 316/317....

I'm just about done using it for mock-up. I got it with a frame I purchase a few years ago. Has a hydramatic attached also. No carb or generator - they were toast.

It would need a good going over. I'm told it was a good running motor until the point the garage caught on fire and burned to the ground!

So new gaskets throughout would be in order, but it should run. I was simply using it for motor mount mock-up and pulley mock-up for my running 347.

I'm in California... so may be not worth it.

Just a though. Feel free to contact me.
