1988-92 REAR GTA wheels NOS
 

I have a pair of NOS GTA rear wheels, never mounted. There are a few light scrapes/marks in the rim. Must be from handling....might polish out.

I am asking $300 for the pair plus actual shipping. I am located in Ford City, PA 16226 and would welcome pickup.

I'm hesitant to think this is a NOS part.

The stick says OER. OER is a parts reproduction company. You can buy OER parts in the Summit Catalog and from various restoration parts suppliers.

Also, the inside of the wheel says Japan.

I bought these 12 years ago and still have the receipt from Classic Industries.....before the reproductions started showing up. They are made by the OE manufacturer as compared to other GTA wheels I have. I am asking less than the reproductions and a fair price as compared to used wheels on Ebay.

Many of these parts vendors buy discontinued, obsolete, and excess inventory from closed dealers and liquidators and resell them. In the early 80s through the mid 90s a lot of the stuff I bought from Ames and Year One was OEM/GM, still in the original packaging with the vendor simply slapping their label and part number on it. I believe that is still the practice today as some of the catalog items are listed as GM.

I had an 87 TransAm/GTA and I have an 89 GTA; I purchased both cars new. The OEM wheels were made in Japan.

If I recall, the wheels on my '87 Formula were made in Germany, not Japan.

Could very well be...what type of wheels did you have? The lace type or the machined type in the pic. Maybe different suppliers for different wheels or maybe multiple vendors.

Thanks for the reply 64-3Deuces! That is exactly what I believe happened with these wheels. There were no FRONT offset wheels available at the time, so I purchased these for my GN. I even talked with Classic Industries about the fronts and they stated there was interest and they would probably reproduce them or have OEM remanufacture. That photo in my second post is a used set of GTA's...appears to have a date code of 1989. My REARs appear to have a cast date of 2001.
