A "Last of the 400"s" with W72, 4 speed, WS6, with no mileage would have an argument for that $. Having said that, a 403 can be built to run fine. But it is always the corporate thing identity crisis when doing equity estimate. Cool car though, time warp.

Lop off $100k and it would still be overpriced. However, he should post it on this site in the Cars for Sale section. He'd be right at home with all the other dreamers...

Nice time machine. But I've come to expect that almost every price starts out way too high to hopefully get a sucker on the line, and then leave negotiating room for the real price. Thanks, reality TV! - American Pickers, Fast n Loud, etc.

We've all heard stories about doctors and lawyers mothballing brand new cars as "investments," but someone who needed to finance the car? And someone who needed his dad to co-sign the loan, at that?

Would be cool to have but since I've yet to hit the Powerball, it isn't going to happen.

And for me, the auto/403 is a deal breaker.

I've heard that there are several very low mile 4 spd TATAs out there. Can't see even them trading hands for anything close to the asking on this one.

But won't blame anybody for trying.

A few years ago, a well optioned,'78 WS6/W72/4 speed Formula with fewer than 1,000 miles went for around $79,000 but that is a fairly rare car. '79 TAs with the 403/auto are pretty common so I really can't see 6 figures for this one.

The 4 spd TATAs were instant collectibles and everybody knew it. Any '79 TA with the 400/4 spd was considered desirable. But I don't think anybody thought of any 403 powered '79 TA as collectible, even the TATA with the 403 was not as special. So I have no idea what Leland was thinking with his non-TATA..

Another "instant" collectible was the '76 Eldo convertible, especially the last of the run Bicentennial (or whatever Cadillac called them) editions.

Lots of buyers stored them away hoping to make a killing on the last American convertible.

The gains never really materialized.

I always figure guys that did this missed out on enjoying the car. What memories can you have of a car you just put into storage?

If this were a 400/4spd SE with 65 miles it *might* break the six figure mark, just not many of them and demand is high. Based on what I’ve seen in the market, this is probably a 75-80k car.....which is crazy!

Bingo. Plus WS6 I believe the car would hit 6 figures. That would be one bad ride with only 65 miles on it.

Where was that? I have never seen a late 2nd gen Formula go for anything close to half that price.

Hemings Motor News. It was a western car. Beautiful paint and interior, t-tops, A/C, cruise control, AM/FM/cassette/ CB, WS6 handling package, W72 engine w/ 4 speed manual trans. The last data I saw on ‘78 Formula production revealed this car was one of fewer than 100 with these option installed
