Convertible top latches

1 Attachment(s)
My 64 Lemans is down at the trim shop getting a new convertible top. I purchased new chrome latches, and he sent me this pic.

I hope they work.

Has anyone else had a problem with the repro latches?

Thanks

I just replaced these myself two weeks ago. I never noticed that difference.

I used the old clamp screw instead of the new one. They were just a bit longer and engaged the threads better. Even after tightening the hell out of them there wasn't much grip to keep the visors from falling down. I used a dab of High Tack Gasket Sealant on the visor ends since it doesn't harden and stays tacky. So far it working well.

Well, I guess they will work OK if you replaced them without a problem.

Thanks for the reply

also, there is a plastic sleeve that fits in the hole to help keep the visor tight/snug.......did you replace yours?

My replacements already had the plastic sleeves in them so yes they were replaced.

It looks like the hooks wont line up with the new ones.

Those are 66/7 not 64/5.

You are correct Bob, Thank you

I just re ordered the correct ones.

Funny, I some how did the same thing. I had the wrong year but it wasn't the spacing of the latch that caught my eye it either didn't fit right or the bolt spacing was off. Can't remember for sure that was over a year ago now.
