69 GTO exhaust resonators
 

Were resonators, similar to these, use on all 69 GTOs or just Ram air 3 & 4s?

Used on automatics with base engine,not sure about ram3or 4 engine

Thanks Beaumont, These were on my 69 GTO Ram Air III automatic Convertible when I bought it 1990, but I don't believe them to be original to the car.

Pretty sure they were optional on all the GTOs ... could be wrong, but I think it was an option ... will have to check my PHS.

It's interesting how GM messed around with the exhaust systems back then. Seems there a lot of configurations. Not saying on your 69, but just muscle cars of the era in general.

Yes! 1970 GTO VOE was an interesting example of Pontiac exhaust system creativity.

The resonators were factory on my fathers 69 GTO automatic he bought brand new. He pulled them off shortly after purchase. Still has them in a box in pristine condition. Just to note, they look nothing like is pictured in the first post so I don't believe those are factory resonators in the picture.

I was pretty sure mine weren't the originals. I was even surprised that the previous owner even bothered putting resonators back in to the system. If it's not too much trouble, It would be nice to see a picture of your father's originals resonators.

This is what the originals look like. They were stock on automatics, not manuals. Not an option as far as I know.

Hang tight and I'll get a pic, they are in a box. I'll have to dig for it. Either on the mezzanine or in one of the trailers. I came across them not long ago looking for something else, I just don't remember exactly where. 75% sure they were on the mezzanine though.

Yes, those from Inline tube look like the originals from my fathers car.

Will be interesting to compare originals to those repops. I'm betting we might find some small differences.

Give me a day or so and I'll find them. Hopefully my posted pictures will be big enough to compare.

I know its not a gto, but the ones on my parents Bonneville were similar to the ones pictured in the first post. hard to tell how long those are. I have a set that I cut off of a 68 428 gp that I parted out several years ago and still have the original tail pipe attached to them. I would guess them to be around a foot to 16 inches long. but would have to measure to make sure.

I have them on my Firebird 400. Bought the system from Gardner. They were exact replacements of the originals, look like small oval mufflers.

The ones in the first post are 18 1/4" long, not including the Chrome tips.
They are 11 1/2" from the forward end back to the welded joint.
