Piston & Rod Recommendations - '68 Ram Air
Looking for piston & rod recommendations for a '68 Ram Air I engine.
Not likely it will be raced but would like something known for durability. Thanks! |
I recommend bushed RPM H-beam rods & Auto Tec pistons, with the pin location you need to achieve zero deck height.
http://www.racingpartsmaximum.com/sa...elhbeam-2.html https://shanonsengineering.com/colle...at-top-pistons There are members here who can order Auto Tec pistons for you. The Speed Pro L2262F forged pistons are plenty strong, but are also heavy & have press-in type pins. The pin height is set at 1.714. So, you'll need to cut extra material off the decks in order to get zero deck height. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Speed-Pro-F...!US!-1&vxp=mtr https://www.ebay.com/itm/Speed-Pro-T...RWvhp2&vxp=mtr Some think Eagle & Scat H-beams are better than RPM H-beams. At the time of this post, the Eagles are about $65 higher than the RPM's. They're available in press pin & bushed versions. Part # for press pin version is CRS6625PP3D. Part # for bushed version is CRS6625P3D. https://thmotorsports.com/i-329470.a...IaApZ7EALw_wcB https://jet.com/product/detail/3cac8...QaAr-rEALw_wcB But, Cliff has posted that he has found most all the Chinese H-beams to be very close to spec. But, he & Paul Carter have also posted about some problems with some of the RPM 5140 I-beams. |
