how big of a tire can i fit on the front

i have a 80 ta with 3" pipes and mufflers so i do not have much ground clearance
standard tire is 225/70/15 28.4" tall

on the back i put 235/75/15 28.88 and they fit nice and raised the back .75"

on the front i would like to do the same but not sure if they will fit

so i am asking what is the largest tire anyone has put on the front of a 80 ta ?

I have run several sets (4) of 235/70R15's on my 77. There is a very slight rub at the very edge of the tread, when the wheels are turned to either direction all the way. I'd think that a 235/75R15 being a taller tire would rub worse. I've heard of folks using 255/60R-15's on th front with no issues...

the 235/60/15 is 26.10"

and the 255/60/15 is 27.05"

both shorter than the standard 225/70/15 27..40 so they wont help me gain any ground clearance

but i thank you for your response

sorry that should be 225/70/15 is 27.4"

The 235/70R-15 is taller than the 225. I used the 235/70 tire not the 235/60...

Personally.... I have 255/60/15 on all 4 corners or my TATA and on my other '79 I have 275/60/15 on the back and 255/60/15 on the front.
No issues at all.

the 255/60/15 is 27.05 thats .4" shorter than the 225/70/15 so it wont help me get any more ground clearance

but thank you for your reply

I got a 245-60-15 on the front of my 71, and it clears everything fine.

245-60-15 won't help him. They're only about 26.6" tall. He wants tall tires, closer to 28".
