Any Borg Warner turbo dealers on PY?
 

We're after a new B/W turbo for a 1350-1400hp 400cu in combo, and I'd rather give the money to a PY member if I can.
Looking at either an S400-88MM with billet compressor wheel and T6 turbine housing 1.32a/r or up, or maybe an S500-95MM with T6 turbine housing 1.32 or up. (or even an S500-91mm,T6 1.32 a/r or up)
I would need exterior dimensions of these turbos and they would have to be shipped to the UK.

Right,looks like we are probably going with an Ultra Street S480 with racecover,from Bullseye. We spoke to Bill at Bullseye who said 1250-1350 at the wheels should be doable, with the turbine size being the limiting factor on our engine size (400-427 cu in). I'm hoping that by using two large 50-60mm wastegates we can keep the back pressure before the turbine down,and maybe with a couple of mods to the turbine and housing (basically flow the turbine housing and back cut the turbine blades) increase the hot side efficiency.
There would also be the option later on of going to a billet compressor wheel,usually good for another 100hp.
As you say 70bird, the S500's are huge- almost 14" diameter and 70lbs weight!

Good choice, I have been looking at them for a while. Seems like Bullseye is great to deal with. My next turbo will be from them. I have an s475 w/ a 1.32.

I was told that Bullseye lost their ability to purchase Turbos from Borg Warner.

Hmm, I wonder why,is it perhaps because they modify them over and above what Borg does with their SX series ? Directly competing with the SX series? What do you think?

That's what I was thinking. But if they are selling turbos why would borg warner care?

Business Practices? Borg does not drop a supplier for no reason. I have dealt with Borg Warner for years. That is who I heard it from that they were no longer a BW distributor.

I just verified that info on the web.
No clue why they were dropped.

ps Borg Warner can sell every turbo they make.
They do not have to give concessions to any vendor.

I have dealt with Superior they are in southwest Detroit. Rough area but they were good people, I bought a s480 for my Ford there. The performance guys name is Craig. When I talked to him he was selling alot of turbos to tractor pulling guys he showed me some real nasty Cummins carnage photos. lol.

Agree, a tough area and a gun just makes it an "even match" with the other guy. 2 or 3 guys may not help the situation. Just more people to rob.

We bought the turbo from Bullseye, very good to deal with, Bill answered every question quickly, let us know every step of the way what the cost would be and delivery to the UK was within 7 days. Also upgraded the turbo to an 83 mm billet compressor wheel free of charge because they were out of stock of 80mm cast wheels . Just got to build an engine for it to go on and finish off the car.

I've read all good about Bullseye. Sounds like a good deal.... The 83mm billet wheel will be nice to have for the extra strength and power.

The compressor is supposed to be good to 1250-1350 at the wheels on a 400 ci combo,depending on VE, apparently the turbo has gone to 1500 on a smaller engine combo-the turbine wheel size of 96mm is the limiting factor.at 400ci. In light of this,we are probably going to go with a smaller ci combo, I have a decent 350 block that I just sonic checked and cylinder wall thickness is very good-over .200" on all major thrust sides with just a couple of spots at .180" between some of the bores. As these spots will be below the block fill I'm not too concerned, deck thickness is not as good as the early blocks but we are going to use threaded deck rods buried in the block fill. The combo will be a 3.90" x 3.75", waiting on Ohio Crank to get a new stock of 3.75" forged cranks in stock before we start to move forward.
