Very Nice Red on Red 1965 Tri-Power 4 Speed, auction 152921482928.
Sorry, as I’m not able to load this auction from this iPad. Maybe someone can post it.

This car sold for $37,500 several years ago, at the time I saved a folder on it.

I don’t think it came with the Rally I wheels.

Neat car with the Rare #614 air cleaners.

Not much time left on this auction.

Rare air cleaners??????????

California cars had them

Is that auction number an Ebay number?

Nevermind, I found the dreamer.

Block stamp. There is a very slight 3 stamp just before the deep 3.
Protect-o-plate has the same 329002 WS.

I like this car and it looks good in the pictures posted at the start of the thread.

The buy it now price is similar to one bedroom condo prices in Myrtle Beach. :--)

but as I said, the car is nice.

Wonder why the center cap hubs don't have the black ring painted on.

That interior looks brand new. If it’s really a survivor, he can almost ask anything he wants - not too many left like that anymore.

Probably because they used the 66-68 center cap assy. which don’t have a black painted ring on the “cone”.
Usually they strip the black paint from the “dish” and polish it like a 65 version.

True 65 Rally I center cap assemblies (one year only) are tough to find.

But you probably already knew that :-)>

Chris.

Agree. The last Montero Red 65 Tripower 4speed survivor that I know of crossed the block sold for over 6 figures. Survivor can mean different things to different people but this car at least looks the part https://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-Pontia...53.m1438.l2649

The re-pop center caps don't come with the black stripe on the dome.

Most folks miss that little detail when they put them on.

Go figure.

Just like the Mecum's and BJ's of the world do, EBay could rid itself and its customers of tire kickers, dreamers and game players if they would just hold in escrow a $500 deposit for anyone bidding on a car. Until then, sellers and real buyers will still have to deal with this crap.

Chief of the 60's 04-02-2018 02:41 PM

The worst part about it is that it drives up fake prices. Then, when you go and try to buy a car, people will quote Evil Bay and B-J like it is gospel. In the last year I cannot tell you how many $35k GTO's I looked at that were far from that. Some were way far from that.
