Interesting "1970" Formula On ebay
 

An ultra-rare 1970 Formula 400 with a 1975 rear, and interior. No VIN in ad, but probably a '75+ car with a 70ish Front Clip which has fender support brackets.

Planning on using the money to further his education.

Bet the owner is going to get a real world education when that contraption sells.

Well sense grade school, he's had to rely on his own good since of custom car prices.

Four pictures and a 70 word description for an 80K car I think he went a little over board trying to sell it

As soon as I saw what he did to the hood, I lost interest.

I don't mind bolt on mods, or a early nose on a late car. The hood ugh... but we all know its Not a 1970... He should ditch the shaker wannabe and sell it as the '76 that it is. ( guessing on the year)

it could have been back halved, or it could be a vin swap...
I agree that if this goof hopes to get anywhere near his astronomical asking price, he needs more information and pictures.

But I highly doubt he will ever sell it for even half of his 'buy it now' price...

IMHO .... Seems like the "rear end" started at the cowl tag...

over the years there have been a handfull of 70-73 Firebirds which have showed up with later rear ends grafted in place, in varying levels of quality.

other than it getting nearly written off in 1975, and then getting a "new" rear end installed, I can't imagine why this would have been done;
Theoretically, if the roof and trunk floor are left in place, you should be able to replace with a 1974+ tail panel, and the 1975+ quarters...
It could be done, but why!?

Maybe was rear-ended and had a 75 donor. There was a 73 here that had a tree fall on roof, and they put a big window roof on it. Weird.

More like he took the front clip / Vin tag and put it on a 75 Body. :lalala:

the floor and/or subframe should make this easy to identify;
the floors are different for 1975;
I believe the trunk floor was also revised for 1975 - but I could be mistaken...

If there's 2.4 pounds of gold in the glove box he has a chance, otherwise....

a common swap for decades has been bolt a '70-72 Firebird loaded endura & whatever fenders didnt have rust in them, onto a nothing special '75-76-77 Firebird. Over the years Ive bought three such deals & cut them all up for parts. Looking at old records, managed only three good late style doors, two good '75+ quarters, and a few early fender rails out of the mess of them. Having bought hundreds of partscars, such street urchin cr@p seldom has great sheet metal. The most hideous of the three, I picked up from a local apartment complex handyman. That particular '77 contraption had a pop up sunroof, shag carpet, & early Olds 400 out of an '66 442. the early Olds 400 was worth many times more to me, than the muddled up fenders & far from nice endura nose & boogered up Formula hood.
