Remove and replace rear 65 bumper.

Replacing my 65 rear bumper. Any tips ? Is this more than a two person job ?

If the car has nice paint, 2 people will make it easier but you can do it by yourself with a floor jack. Big key to remember, bumper needs to come back as it goes down or it will catch on the 1/4 extensions. A few layers of 3M masking tape on the paint in the areas of the bumper, as well as on the edges of the bumper near the paint will be added paint protection insurance.

Removal

Can the bumper be removed separately or should the whole assembly (brackets).
Come off ???? Thanks.

Can't get to the upper bolts and it is easier to remove it as an assembly. You have more control as it can only go up & down and/or in & out. Not side to side.

I usually remove the bolts behind the license plate, place a floor jack under the middle, loosen the front bolts, remove the rear bolts then lower the jack while pulling back on the assembly. When the bumper is clear of the 1/4 extensions I remove the front bolts and pull the whole thing off.

If you have them, don't forget to unplug and push through your back up lamp and license lamp wires first.
