Not all original, but a pretty neat car, nonetheless. I don't know how many similar early GTO's in this condition I passed on buying back in the early '80's for less than $1000 because they had the 2 speed auto. Much easier to buy a 4 speed GTO at that time than to bother with a conversion. Things sure have changed!

Ok, maybe it's 99.9% all original. Unless kept in a vacuum, no car is "all original".

Swapping out the radiator hose to a correct style and replacing the red with black might take 30 minutes.

It might come as a surprise to you, but I bet the oil filter is wrong too. You might want to check the air filter while your at it.

It might come as a surprise to you, but true 100% vehicles do exist. Oil filter and all. 2 in fact come to mind. Steve Ames Cameo pickup and one of the cars in my collection.

The point being here is if someone is BS'ing about one thing, what else are they BS'ing about? Just recently there was a '64 that was listed as an original, low mileage car. Only after a few questions from a couple of people here we found out that not only was it not completely original but it had been wrecked too. That guy's listing went from low mileage "original" to total BS as far as I am concerned.

Like that other '64, this one here appears to be another "nice" example but a potential buyer needs to proceed with caution as to what it really is and where it's really been.

Disappointed that he did not show pics of the Trunk area. Tire change decal, reverb picture, etc.

People with true originals typically flaunt it even if it is not perfect or well preserved.

Unless I missed it nowhere in the ad is the mileage listed. If you’re claiming it to be all original and nothing new I feel listing the mileage is very important. Yes it goes without saying that something like the battery wouldn’t be original after 55 years but for this kind of money the seller should have installed a reproduced Delco battery from that era. Things like the armrests, aftermarket flex radiator hose, hose clamps and radiator cap make me suspicious. Don’t get me wrong, it is a nice car. But to determine how nice the mileage is needed.

Sometimes the mileage doesn't necessarily tell the story. I had a 100% original barn find with 54k on it that was shot and another with 1900 miles on it that certainly doesn't look 1900 miles. In sharp contrast, I had a Formula Firebird with 80k on it that was almost completely flawless. It all depends on how they were treated in life.

I wouldn't want a vehicle that had 54K on in and never was serviced, because that would also mean 54,000 miles on the "original" oil.

Just using your criteria on what "original" means.

Pretty cool if you are into cars with truly original stuff. Special mention to the guy who got bonus points because his survivor had its original tires. They had been recapped, but at least the tire carcasses were the ones it was built with. Cool if you like survivors.

I noticed the '63 Plymouth parked next to the GTO in the ad pic. My first car was a '63 Fury hardtop, would be a Mopar guy if my sister didn't wreck it, led to me buying my first '64 GTO in '73.

I'd like to see the PHS for the '64 GTO. If it was truly built first week of Sept., it would be about as early as the reported 1st '64 GTO Zone Announcement build. And loaded as it was, I wonder if it was built for promotion also?

One thing I'm sure of, it wasn't built at the "PONTAIC (sic) FLINT MICHIGAN ASSEMBLY PLANT".

I really can't tell much about it from the crappy pictures. I'm afraid I would be disappointed when I got there to look at it.
