I will be having hip replacement surgery on 5/22, so I'm going to be pretty well tied up for the next week. I will be out of commission for at least two months, maybe three.

Hey Mike had mine replaced last Friday. I spent one day in hospital, so home on Saturday.

I was originally going to have the hip replaced 14 years ago, but I chickened out. I've let it go on way too long, doctor said the surgery would take about 30 minutes longer than average because I let it go for so long. I have a desk job, so I was able to defer surgery until I absolutely had to have it. Insurance pre-approved me for a 2-day stay, but I'm hoping to come home the next day.

What type of hip did you get?

I have a 90 year old buddy that gets around good that had his hip replaced last year. He was also home in a day. It was amazing to me how fast he recovered. He also had both knees replaced one at a time and same deal he was home in a day and walking around.

I think the thing that scares me most is the risk of secondary infections. The risk of dying from secondary infections is far higher than the risk of complications from the surgery itself. I was very selective about choosing my doctor and hospital. I'm ready and hoping for the best.

Anterior minimally invasive. I’m about 60 hours out of surgery and moving around pretty well with a walker.

Had mine done,anterior, April 2nd, arrived 5.45 am ,walked out 5.45pm. May 1st I was out turkey hunting ! I think the fitter you are going in ,the quicker the recovery,I did physical therapy two days a week for 5 weeks,on my own now.
Interesting,the bill from the hospital to the insurance co just arrived,for everything on the one day,$32,000 .lucky my insurance covered it all. Good luck.

Was it the clutch side?

Gas side and we know I don’t use that very much. Lol

Mine is also the gas side.

The prosthesis going into the femur is titanium with a ceramic head, receptacle is cobalt plated titanium with a cross-linked polyethylene liner. Doctor swears by it, I'm a little concerned with the ceramic head becoming damaged if I get into an accident.

I play hockey 3 times a week and my Dr knowing this full well also chose the ceramic ball
