Blow thru carb, turbos for street?

Looking at a used non intercooled twin unit for a budget street application.
Any major problems trying to use a carb set up for a reliable combo?

None for low boost ..

Meaning a blow through is poor at metering at low boost pressure?
What is considered low?

Ok pulled the trigger on these units. Will take pics as build progresses. Be installed in a 69 judge. I know some will scoff at ruining a judge, but this car is branded with a reconstructed title( insurance claim) because of minor building fire damage during a frame off restoration.

You can buy "Store Bought" Blow thru carbs designed for 15 psi boost from companies like C&S or Quick Fuel or you can buy from PY people people like Charlie66 (if he was willing to build them for you) because he has a lot of experience with what pieces need to be changed for 15 psi boost and has had the parts made for his stuff and it works.

You go to the C&S Carb people and they will build you a pair of custom carbs that will be basically the same as Charlie's stuff just a different Booster Design. Aerosol booster vs normal Annular Discharge booster.

Holley sells, (thru Quick Flow carbs), a Blow Thru Carb but it would still require a complete tuning cycle to match it to the engine for 15 psi.

Are you assuming one carb and two turbos or Two Carbs and two turbos with one carb feeding 50% of the mass flow and the other carb feeding the remaining 50% of the mass flow?

Pro-Systems builds some of the best blow-through carbs in the market and they custom taylor them to "your" specs. Not some general consensus that needs to be messed with. Check them out and give Patrick a call, he'll set you straight at a very fair price - http://revv-it.com/

Tom Vaught 06-18-2018 02:15 PM

A "self compensating" Blow thru Carb.

Well JC, there you go, the Pro Systems Holley carb thinks it is a efi system except that it does not need a computer or injectors to add fuel under boost conditions.

If they "custom taylor the carb to YOUR SPECS", then the carb is tuned for the specs you provided.
"Self Compensating" means the carb can be taken out of the box, no matter what engine size or boost level and it will make max power on the dyno. The Carb fixes itself you do not need to touch it.

You really believe that on a boosted engine carb Chief of the 60s? I don't. How much does Patrick pay you for referrals?

LMFAO!!!

Please Tom, tell all of us where this nasty Patrick man touched you? Or are you just butthurt because Pro-Systems carbs do exactly what they say they do?

B.T.W.: How much do you get for your referrals and Pro-Systems bashing?

Go fast and don’t worry. This is how blow through carburetors should’ve been built in the first place.

This design currently holds the World Record on the Salt as driven by Willie Glass at over 208 mph in a ’29 Hi Boy (as delivered “out of the box” no adjustment, it was dead on).

If you are tired of struggling with your current maintenance prone design that requires constant jetting and adjusting, step up to our self compensating blow through carburetor and enjoy racing and driving your car for the first time.
I know plenty of people that run (and win) on a Pro-Systems carb. The only other choice some guys will pick is QFT. A few will run a Willy's

J.C.you 06-18-2018 02:47 PM

The setup I bought already has a c&s dominator carb and associated parts with it. It is a complete, running 2018 mirror image 64 mm pair of NREs with headers off a BBC. Just need to modify headers to fit Don's v heads. Probably go with a inter cooler since this setup was non intercooled.

Tom Vaught 06-18-2018 03:03 PM

The C&S carb that you have (That Roger built) will work great for what you want to do J.C.

Ignore the rest of the Advertising BS in this thread.
Roger really knows his stuff, has a great "Wet Flow" flow bench and has been in the game for many years.

Well at least 2 people in this thread know what it is like to go fast and perform.

J.C.you 06-18-2018 03:19 PM

Whoa, this boost section is juicer than the race threads. Have to visit here more often.

Naw. Someone just thinks they are the only one that is allowed to have any valid information. No matter how wrong it may be. Besides, the last time I checked, I seen people with tool boxes go rounds and win races. In all my years of track time I have never seen a person with slide rule do that.

No JC, I am just having my point proven as I posted when I was in the race section.

It does not matter what Forum I post in George and the Chief of the 60s will follow me there and stir up the chit for everyone else.

I don't read George's PMs, I don't read Chief of the 60s PMs. I laugh at the BS coming out of both of their mouths.

George knows NOTHING about Boost except how to write the check. Chief of the 60s must think he will get a free carb out of Pro Systems at some point. George or Chief of the 60s has never run a Turbocharged Pontiac Engine.

People like Charlie66 70 bird, and others that do run Turbocharged cars are insulted by these guys daily. But it is a PY Forum with a couple of Noise Makers, LOL.

Any way I can help you or Charlie66 can help you send us a PM.

And the [s]lies[/s] hits just keep on coming. I cannot speak for George (however I am sure his answer is the same) but I have no reason to PM this person. However, his PM's to me continue like he is relevant. Sorry, that ship sailed.

B.T.W.: I can prove my side, I know he cannot prove his.

Tom Vaught 06-18-2018 05:47 PM

Why are you screwing up JC's thread?

I get the same thing....he’s PMing me also! I told him to stop!
