'69 FB Manual to power steering conversion
I'm thinking of doing the manual to power steering conversion on my '69 so I'm starting to make a list of all the items I'm going to need to find. Given the nearly unobtainable nature of the '69 center link, I'm thinking of just converting to the '68 set up. So, first questions are: Is this a reasonable plan? Besides the center link, pitman arm, and idler arm, are there other '69 only parts that will need to be replaced?
Second question: Anybody have an already compiled list of parts for this conversion? Thanks Mike |
I may have a center link, not 100% sure. Can you give me a definite way to tell from standard or from a Camaro?

If you already have a 69 set up in your car and it's in good shape then you only need the power steering pitman arm. As far as I know the centerlink, idler arm and inner/outer tie rods are the same for both manual and power . You can send out your 69 centerlink and have it rebuilt. Sometimes you can find a 6 cyl centerlink that also works. It has a slightly different shape but once it's under the car only someone who knows exactly what each looks like can tell the difference.

I believe the 6cyl center link works on V8's but not the other way around

If you still have the manual parts I want to change my '69 bird from power.
We can swap any or all parts needed to make the change happen. Since I only bracket race it now it can be down if you need the parts first. |
WOW
It doesnt get any better than that !!!
