Need help rare intake manifold
 

I have a one year only intake manifold for a 1956 317 V8 part # 523554 Its a 2X4 cast iron. I don't know what it's worth. I also know that if I list it it needs a price I'm clue less about it's value.

not a huge market and the intake pops up more than a complete set. I do know that the air cleaner is worth a lot of bucks.

I bought one 10 years ago for $200 and sold it 5 years later... for $200.

I was going to say $200-$300 on the in take. Kind of a cool piece though when you look back at NASCAR history and Pontiacs involvement.

And that probably was strong money. I would not necessarily call these "rare", they don't pop up every day but they are out there and they do pop up. But whether one considers them rare or not is not the issue, finding a home for one is. Not many people out there shy of a rat rodder have a use for one. I had a '57 (or '58) Tri-Power setup with carbs I owned for 15-20 years. Couldn't give it away. I finally sold it to a vendor in Carlisle for $100.00. This too may take awhile to sell even at a giveaway price. But hey, you never know. Like I always say, there's an ass for every seat.

The correct original water neck is worth MORE than the intake!

As mentioned, there is not a lot of demand for these items. I had the one pictured on my website for about 20 years before it sold; but it did sell:

And not that it makes your intake more (or less) valuable, but I have seen more of the developmental intakes (with the "D" number) than production units like yours.

I seen that about the water neck for the manifold, that its worth more money and harder to find. I got this in a parts lot with other Pontiac parts and was told to me that is was rare.

Just like antiques, just because it is old and/or rare, does not mean it is worth something.

The water neck can be made up by taking a modern aluminum cast tripower water neck, cutting a section out, and welding it back together. Not an exact match but since almost no one has ever seen a real one close enough.
