Car Gathering Down Under

I haven't posted any photos for ages, probably about two years. The Goat was off the road waiting for a heart transplant. It went well and we are back into attending shows again. This one was on the outskirts of the CBD of Melbourne in a suburb called St Kilda. Bonus of this show was that it was right next to an old historic amusement park. You can see the old wooden roller coaster in some of the photos. I like this type of show as they close off a few streets and the crowd get really up and close.

Great pics and some very nice cars. Firebirds look popular and a very cool backdrop for a show.

TAKerry 09-18-2018 08:12 AM

Some really nice looking cars there. Looks like a pretty good show.

What is the gold car off to the lower left with only the nose showing? It looks like it has a '88 - '96 Grand Prix fender on it. Looks really cool. Got anymore photos of it?

Gold car... That's a Holden Calais (model: VL). Awesome car, I had one in burgundy.

I'd like to know more. Pics too if anyone has any. So far, it looks like it has fenders similiar to a GP, headlamps similiar to an Olds 88 and has an Olds name.

Now that's an awesome car show. Your 67 looks great too. You guys even have some your own awesome cars built right there in Australia.

But seeing that Bugatti and the GT 40 is unreal. Especially out at a car show. Here it would have to be a very special show to see them attend. And I don't believe there's a Bugatti that old anywhere near here.

MYGOAT 09-19-2018 06:02 AM

Here is a link to a video about one. Hopefully it works

Yep, I was blown away with that Bugatti just sitting there in the middle of the street with people just wandering around it.

Wow! Not what I was expecting from that first picture. The car seems to have a lot of 80's Toyota-ish look to it. Are those turbo 4's or turbo 6's? I don't know how you guys can shift with your left hand. LOL! But then, you guys probably wonder how we can shift with our right! :D

Thanks for posting that link.

Chief, They are Nissan 3.0ltr six cylinders. Some turbos (Garret t3 I think). Terrific engine. I'll see if I can find a pic of the one i had. They were also available in a 304ci v8.

We have some sweet Aussie cars. Here are some from a show I went to a few weeks back[emoji106] sorry to hijack the thread! I've got heaps more of that show...https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9aeba6e559.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...20dae8fc0d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5ac9261b76.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5dbd892326.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c19205b2f8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...63d6cd1b45.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bd36d33f4a.jpg

Interesting. That 304, who makes that engine? We had 304's here that were made by AMC and International-Harverster.

Is that blue one yours? That car is sweeeet! It that an LS in it? And who couldn't recognize a Mad Max Aussie Falcon. A lot of cool cars there. Thanks for posting!

anthony1 09-19-2018 10:53 AM

Thanks Chief. The 304 was a Holden engine. The blue VL is not mine... wish it was! Yes it had an LS engine dropped into it. I need to find a photo of my old VL, then I'll post it. Meanwhile, I'm the Aussie car lover at the show with an American classic (nothing wrong with that!)! Here is a pic of 2 blokes trying to work out how I select a gear with my RIGHT hand! GTO68FXSTC98 09-19-2018 12:50 PM

I surprised how many left hand drive cars are down there.

MYGOAT 09-19-2018 04:13 PM

They can really hot up some of those turbo engines. Some guys get real serious with them. Have a look at this.
