1972 455 HO Motor

Ok I have tossed the idea of selling this motor around for a while and now that as a family we are discussing moving to a new house next year and with the life changes I think it's as good a time as any to let it go. The plan is to pull it early spring.

Info on the motor:
Year correct Qjet just installed not the original carb Pontiac 1972 455 divorced choke Quadrajet 7042262, 7F6 heads, stock intake etc.... I think the only thing out of place would be the HEI dist.

Block Code is YB
Date is H141
It is an F-body vin stamp of 22N517132

It is a good running motor and other than a small exhaust leak on the drivers side manifold there are no issues. Could use new gaskets etc. I am the third owner of the car that it is in, this motor was installed by the original owner and neither I nor the 2nd owner has had this motor apart. I can not tell you when the last rebuild had been done or if it has even ever been done. The car that it is in has had only about 56k total miles driven. It does not have any kind of lope like it has a big cam or anything. I have plenty of videos and pics showing it running with good oil pressure.

I'm asking 7500 as it sits. Want more info, pics, videos of it feel free to pm me and ask away. Have something interesting to trade in mind, something to trade + cash just let me know. I prefer cash to pay some bills off to move but can never resist interesting items.

Original intake/crossover and exhaust manifolds?

T/A addict 12-10-2018 06:50 AM

It is the original intake, I'll have to double check if it still has the crossover. Exhaust manifolds are the stock ones but the driver side seems a little warped since it won't flush up and seal, some milling to clean it up should work.

Ok spent a little time getting it ready to pull this past weekend. I will be out of town this coming weekend but will get it pulled out and on a pallet the weekend after if anyone is interested.
Here are some pics I got this morning before work

Just Curious ,Why are you pulling it from your T/A?

Time for a change.... I don't want to change or modify anything on this 455 like drilling/tapping the extra manifold/header bolt holes in the heads for ram-air manifolds or headers etc. The exhaust leak and intake/water pump coolant leak (I'm OCD about squeaks, drips and rattles-drives my last nerve) and I need to pull the transmission to freshen or replace it anyways.

I am in the middle of assembling a 400 with a complete Sniper EFI setup etc for the car so it makes the motor expendable and I can use the funds to finish up the 400 and pay some stuff off.
