Bathtub intake
Anybody got one they’d like to sell?
SD |
I dont know of any now but will ask the question. You want a real factory one or a repop? If a repop one for the 61-64 heads or one for the 65 and later heads?Just incase I find two.Tom
Find 3. I need one......1965 and later...
I’d prefer a ‘65 and later aftermarket.
There was a few older 60's intakes on https://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/p...778800441.html and some others !
Bober, that is not the bathtub intake.Guys, between the originals and the repoped there is less than 100 total made that were for the 61-64 heads and maybe less than 15 made for the 65 up.I have owned about 6-8 real ones and a few of the repop 61-64 and converted one myself for late heads.I sold my converted one to a board member.I would say in this market figure to pay at least $3000 for even a repop,no clue for a real one and performance wise the repop is better.Tom

I have a set of the correct 750 SD AFBs sitting around waiting to find another intake.Tom
Tom, how do the repop's compare to the Wenzler performance wise?
Thanks Tom for the info. If they’re bringing that kind of money I’ll do something else.
I really think the W is a better performance intake. The bathtub is really limited to port size.Tom
Mike, the W is better performance wise, the runners on the bathtub get real thin up around 290 CFM.Tom
Thanks Tom.
Bathtub looks allot better to the eye. My heads flow around 345 so I guess I'll stick with the Wenzler |

Paul, the final intake that Dave and Joe ran had huge work down to them. One of our board members has Joes. The intake on my car now was Daves backup intake. The one I converted was another of Daves that came from Fulper.Had DZ engraved on one of the runners.Tom
Thanks for the info Tom
I think they cut the flat floor out and put a V shape in it.When Randy Williams made the 65 and up repops he made diff style floors.I had 3 of them and we tested them on a E headed 467.One had a flat floor with round holes in it,one had a V shaped with round going into the runners and one had rectang like the W intakes. They were all within 5 HP of each other but it was not a real HP engine, more of a HP street engine. It was Tony DeFosters engine.Tom
Great information Tom.... if I remember corectly DJ's had the V floor.
Any idea what happened to the casting core boxes? It'd be cool if they were around and someone made another run.
Good info here!
I tried the Gutsram on mine and it slowed down around .07 from the original Wenzler. Slowbird-- I agree, I am not sure who has them. I guess Randy's family does?? Randy passed away around 2004. |
I was told that Randy destroyed the molds.I think the Guts takes BIG ports and really high RPMs.The original W seems to work very well on most engines.Even if we had the molds not sure you could get enough interest to get any ROI.Tom
