70 GTO Rear Air Shock Compressor / Rear Window Defogger/blower

Was looking at a 70 GTO today and when inspecting the trunk noticed that there was an electric air compressor (automatic level ride?) for the air shocks attached to the underside of the package shelf on the driver’s side (where a rear speaker often is). Was this a factory (or dealer) installed option on a 70? Also the GTO has a rear window (blower type) defogger mounted on the underside “center” of the package shelf with a rectangle grille on top. Was this a factory installed option? Were two rear speakers available? This GTO had the factory am/fm stereo with the console mounted 8-track with one right side rear speaker. I’m into 69 GP’s so I apologize in advance for not knowing.

The A body cars only came with one rear speaker when it was "stereo" or simply having a rear fader. having an 8 track would have automatically given you a rear speaker. speaker went into the right side pod. I'm pretty sure it was an accessory option you could add to the car to mount the second speaker, I know the wiring for that simply jumped from the right to the left, both speakers powered by a single wire so your fader control still only ran front to back and not left to right like it is nowadays. I was always under the impression that the 70 rear defogger used the 69 style with the blower motor mounted to the back seat brace and a duct going up to a longer thin vent (like 12" x 2"....and that the retangular one mounted with the blower motor under the package tray was 71 and up, but I couldn't swear to that and maybe it was either a mid year change or 70 didn't actually do that. I think they figured out pretty quickly how useless the 69 setup is that forever sucks cold air out of the trunk instead of getting some warm air from the cabin to blow onto the glass. Rear blower defoggers were definitely factory options and should have a rocker switch saying "low defog high". It kind of sucks with that front to back "stereo" mentality on these, you couldn't add the left speaker on a 67 because they mounted the rear defogger into the left speaker hole that year. My dad's 68 cutlass used the left speaker hole for the defogger too but 68 gto used the center hole along with the same metal grille (rectangular with one corner curved over)

No idea on air shock level ride thing.
