Any Mopar mechanics here??
 

have a 2003 Dodge Caravan beater. 3.3 Auto 4sd 2wd. couple weeks ago, speedometer starts bouncing around at a complete stop or in park. First couple of miles driven when cold will shift first, second, third. After it warms uo, will stay in one gear, either first or second. Cant go over 45 as it's screaming. I replaced both input and output speed sensors after doing some research. No change at all. What are my chances of getting a bad sensor/sensors?? They are Standard sensors. I did not check voltage at the plugs, but i ASSUME there is because the speedometer does work. But we all know what happens when you assume something. Any Ideas?? Seems to be a pretty common problem from what I've read, that is usually fixed by replacing the above sensors.

Common problem on Mopars (the sensors) as I had the same thing happen to our Dakota beater. There’s videos on You Tube on how to fix em that I used; I’d check the voltage to em. Dumb question I’m asking but are they used sensors ?

No, they are brand new Standard 103 and 104 part numbers. You can't mix them up as they have different pitch threads.

It is in Limp mode and "Mopar" is not the only one that will do it. Probably has a tranny issue.

you cant imagine how many caravans, town and countries and voyagers I have bought for crush value because of this problem. cost more to rebuild the trans than the van is worth.

Most of the time it is just a solenoid in the valve body. If you can find an honest tranny shop they will replace it without up-selling a rebuild.

Have had several with wiring issues. Causing the speedo to jump while stop or in Park. Seems over the years the wires in the harness degrade to the point they "bleed over" into a wires next to one other. Found this by running a new wire from the output sensor directly to the TCM. There was no mechanical trans issues. Also found this once but wasn't my problem: speedometer jumps FIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if the speed sensor don't fix it.. unplug the quick 2 wire plug on alternator and if it stops jumping replace the alt! The alt still charges BUT dodge has a other circuit inside that is Shorted going to the instrument cluster that's why.

Belive me I had the same issue and that was it!!! no more jumping and shifts fine now.
