Came across this 71 today. Original owner wants $1500 for it. It’s got its original 400, auto car.
Looks to far gone to restore but it would make a good donor car.

Interior mostly toast too? You might do Ok at $1500. if the dash pad and console is perfect. Tilt column would help. If not, even a grand might be too much. You sure it has a 400? Only non-Formulas and TA's with a 400 were Esprits with the optional 400 2bbl. I'm seeing a 4bbl here, so may be an engine swap?

Where is this car at?

BWhite 03-11-2019 08:45 PM

I’m really not too sure on what motor is in there. If it was a few years newer and a T/A I’d buy it for parts for my T/A.
I agree, price is a bit high for what’s there and I really don’t have the time to put into stripping it down and parting it out.
It’s located in southern Ontario Canada if any other people are interested. I’m happy to pass the guys number along.

So have u talked to the owner then????

BWhite 03-11-2019 09:12 PM

Yes I have.
Older guy owns it, he had his son show me the car.

unruhjonny 03-11-2019 09:23 PM

that IS an Esprit;
My assertion is based on it being a 400 car, and the 70/71 Esprit/Formula bumper.
I saw original inner fenders and the drivers side fender was original.
Imcould be wrong, but is that a California emissions sticker on the passenger side inner fender?

Production figures on a 1971 Firebird Esprit 400 2b? 1,168. For 1970, 1,143. For 1972, 791.. For 1973, 1,749. For 1974, 3,931.

How many have been restored?

Is that color, red, primer, or badly oxidized bronze?

If this were an original ‘70 Esprit 400-2bbl it would be worth $1500. They came with 12-bolt rears. ‘71 not so much.

And T400 auto's. Great build platform for stealth fun.
