Rare coin???
I found this looking through my bin of assorted washers. I know I have seen it in there before but today it a\occurred to me that it certainly can't be a washer. I cleaned it up a little and there seems to be some numerals on it. I can make out what seems to be an "8"and what might be an "A" but that is about it. I'm thinking it is some ultra rare coin worth millions. I checked it with a magnet and it is not iron. What appears to be an 8 is located a 1 o'clock. what appears as an A is at 9 o'clock. It takes perfect light to see them.

most likely a button, an old one

While trying to determine what and if it's a coin do not clean it. Leave it as is for now.

Stud buttons are much like shank buttons but instead of a hole they have a pin which is attached through the fabric to secure the button in place.

Bus token.....

I'd say it's too big to be a button seeing it's about the size of a quarter. And it's not a coin.

NOS and worth millions..I hope. LOL

before reading any other replies, my gut reaction was that it was an old, or old style button.

I believe that is a curtain weight, designed to be sewn into the bottom hem. I got some from a neighbor whose father was a draper(?). I used them for fishing.

Cool find none the less.
Once metal detecting I found the metal plate of a woman's shoe heel. It had a heart shape cut out in it. So back in the day when most people were walking on dirt, wherever this woman walked she would leave heart imprints. Probably from the middle to late 1800's. |
