73-74 SD mechanical fuel pump

Hi,

(Sorry for my poor english, i speak french mainly)

I own a firebird 67 400 with a Carter mechanical pump. With todays gas evaporating a lot easier after 2-3 days not running, i have to crank the engine a lot before starting. Have you ever heard about using a SD 73-74 mechanical fuel pump to solve this problem ?

Is there a better solution ? I want to stay with the mechanical pump because it's quieter.

Thanks a lot

Pierre

Doubt it would solve anything, both are good pumps.

La pompe électrique est la réponse. Electric pump is the answer.

Voici quelques liens:

J'aime la pompe Holley moi-même. Bonne chance! :canada2:

That paint thinner they sell us and call 'gasoline' is going to evaporate off no matter what pump you use.

A small mechanicel pump, installed near the gas tank, that doesn't restrict fuel flow when off would be the answer. You can turn it on momentarily each time you want to start the car after sitting, then turn if back off when the car started. Maybe something like the Mr. Gasket #12S or the Holley Mighty Mite.

I like the Holley pump myself. Good luck! :usflag:
