1964 GTO 4 barrel air cleaner
 

I found a nice single snorkel chrome air cleaner from a Chevy 409. The top looks like 1964 GTO. I believe the base is different. Any info on differences or similarities would be appreciated as well as a picture of the Gto base.

Does that 409 decal/sticker look Original?

Me thinks it looks like a California only piece with the vent pipe.

Depends on the year. The sticker looks original but is attached in the wrong place.

I have an original 4 bbl base at home. It does not have the vent pipe.

Chris, It could be an original sticker. Having owned only one early Chevy I do not know enough to say. It could be ,as it is a really clean piece.

I did some internet searches on 409 engine compartments and see that the sticker is in the wrong place. I was looking at the lid and noticed it is stamped "Front" on both sides of the snorkel. Can't recall how the GTO lid is marked.

The GTO lid is marked front on both sides too. Evidently so that it could be used on multiple vehicles.

On the GTO the correct setting has the snorkel to the passenger side.
