4 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone Im 22 years old from warren MI and just bought my first real drag car and it had to be a Pontiac. I changed oil and did compression check on radiator all look good. Motor sounds healthy and runs fast. This is a totally new car to me and I don't know a lot about it. Im looking for any tips of things to check out before real heavy driving or track runs. What do you guys think it might run? Guy I bought from said mid 10s.
1969 Tempest -460 Pontiac Stroker 12-1 Comp Runs only on 110 guy said - E heads -1050 Carb -Full MSD 6AL with 2 step -Solid Roller .575 lift, 262 Dur @.05 lift 110* lobe sep -Turbo 400 Reverse manual valve body with 4000 Stahl -12 Bolt with 4.11 gear and spool -Ladder Bars -Hooker headers with full 3 1/2 exhaust |
It may run that. if everything is up to snuff. How much does it weigh? I think you will have to move the uel regulator off the firewall, that will no fly at the tracks i travel too. Nice Pick up!

Check: brake function, steering components, every single bolt for torque (including bellhousing), fluid levels, seat belts for cert, required SFI safety equipment for expected time, all wiring, belt alignment, alternator function, tire wear, seat bolted down properly, etc.

Don't forget to check the driveshaft, if it is stock replace it with a good one.

Not sure on weight. Probably a little less than stock. Luckily I noticed this cracked pulley before disaster struck. I have a Ram air restoration pulley on the ATI damper. Do you really need to rebuild those every 10 years? I believe this car was built in 2004. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d722b3fe27.jpg

Not sure about the weight. Probably a couple hundred less than stock. Car was making a loud clacking noise. Sounded almost like a rod knock. Turns out it was this cracked pulley. I replaced it with a Ram Air Restoration pulley for Ati damper. Do you really have to rebuild ATI super dampers every 10 years? This car was built about 2004.
