Friend has a 62 Grand Prix. Was restored completely and driven 1000 miles after which it was stored inside for a few years. He pulled it from storage recently and now it will not change out of low gear. It stays in low gear. Any ideas on a fix. Tranny was rebuilt when car was restored.

Roto-Hydramatic or Hydramatic?

Gran Prix would have come with a Roto-Hydramatic and David said it was "restored", so my guess is Roto.

Check to make sure that the linkage from the carb to the pan is not stuck in the full throttle position.
Rotos were known for bad governors.

My first car back in the 1970s was a '61 Catalina with a Roto Hydramatic. It got stuck in low gear one winter day, I finally figured out the lever on the transmission where that linkage connected to it was frozen in place. After it thawed out, the transmission shifted normally again.

Not saying he has ice on his linkage, but I agree it could have something else stuck in it that's preventing it from working properly.
