Runner-Up in Belle Rose
 

After a long trip down and back. I Got Runner-up in Super Street at Division 4’s opener down in the Bayou of Belle Rose Louisiana. It was a great weekend that I got to share with my Dad and Wife.

That motor will be running soon! It was a mad dash to get my car ready to go for this early race, I had to have dads help getting my Truck/Trailer/race car ready to go. He didn’t have much time dedicated to his. Now this early race is behind us both of us will focus on getting his A-B-C and D motors ready to go!

Since I don't trust my memory I went and look at some simulations I did about 7 years ago with Jason.

They started at
1000 Foot ET = 9.3312
1/4 Mile ET = 10.9124
1/4 Mile MPH = 145.1866

and ended with
1000 Foot ET = 9.3975
1/4 Mile ET = 10.9006
1/4 Mile MPH = 153.0113

This one was run about 4 years ago
1000 Foot ET = 9.4222
1/4 Mile ET = 10.9026
1/4 Mile MPH = 155.0548

Stan I know where 160+mph is with my car and it would be easy to manipulate my throttle stop timers to get there the only problem is I couldn’t tell you if I was going to run 10.79 or 10.95 on a pass.
So I have been just polishing the combo I have and it has been consistent enough to turn on win lights.
Your software is scary accurate. I was figuring my 90 pass this particular weekend to be 9.428 to the 1000’.


Kenny it was hard to get my car ready to go when your brother kept turning on win lights in Valdosta. When Super Street was up me and dad would stop doing any work to watch.
These last 2 weekends have been a lot of fun that’s for for Sure!

I have not run any throttle stop simulations since I ran that one of yours almost 4 years ago. Would this 1000' number look close for 160 MPH?

1000 Foot ET = 9.4643
1/4 Mile ET = 10.9008
1/4 Mile MPH = 160.1287

I want to ask a question about throttle stop racing. Is it possible to run a quicker ET with a better reaction time and still LOSE the race because of the far greater MPH ?
I have raced a throttle stop 10.90 car, badd ride. 8 second car. I was dialed at 10.90 that race and so was he with his electronics. I cut a decent .021 light, but he got me with a .011 light and I lost by some minuscule amount far less than the .010 difference in reaction time.
I say if I cut a .005 I had him. It was a great race, fun. The other driver is a cool dude. Said he did not think he was going to catch me.

It still comes down to reaction time and running 10.900.

When you bracket race (not .90). Do you like being chased or being the chaser? In .90 racing the slower your MPH the more times you will be chased and the faster your MPH the more times you will be the chaser.

Congrats Jason!!! If I was running the 10.90 class I would mess with them all with a different strategy. I would run 10.90 @ 117. Coming from behind they couldn't judge me at 160 any better than I could judge them Lol!! I love to chase and usually do in Mod class, but get more than about 30 mph difference and it gets much more difficult to judge the finish line.

One way would be to run at a constant 117 MPH the last 1/3 of the track lol

The biggest advantage to being the faster car was first to start had the first chance to red light. But that is going away with tracks not showing the first red light and if the second guy to start goes red too the worst red light loses.
I mean, it is easier running guys down but its not a huge difference either. If you car is very consistent and you are known for cutting good lights you will get your share of guys breaking out or going red sitting there waiting. I do well racing very fast cars in Super Pro for driving a heap. You get some 7 second car waiting 4 seconds and they get antsy sometimes. And they blow the tires too and are done while I grab and go. But let me tell you, its kind of spooky crossing the line at 120mph and this little 'dot" in your rear view mirror get bigger and bigger and blows past you at 170mph+. If they blow a tire or break a tie rod on the big end, seen it,, and come in my lane I am toast. Might be safer in the fast car.
This 10.90 class stuff with racers having 800HP engines and electronics to slow the first half down is kind of, well not for me.
Happy for Jason though, even with the freaking Chevy in there. If I hit the lotto he is going to have a Pontiac under the hood. Car is too pretty for a rat.
