Harmonic dampener rebuildable?
1 Attachment(s)
Is an original harmonic dampener rebuildable? I have one that the inner machined piece that contacts the seal has cracked and someone attempted to weld it back to the flange. There's no way I trust this, and wonder if anyone has attempted to press the inner piece out, and press a new one in? Is the rubber material that separates the inner piece from the outer available?

There are companies that can re vulcanize those, you could probably do a search...

Tom’s balancer is unique and as rare as hens teeth, a balancer rebuilding expert is the only choice.
Your balancer is a dime a dozen that’s readily reproduced and available new. I called another balancer rebuilder that Tom had recommended because I had a 421 balancer I wanted rebuilt. This same balancer was used on all non-SD ‘59 -‘67 V8 and 4-cylinder engines, dime a dozen. I called and he told me they don’t rebuild them anymore and he simply sold me a new one, he’s the same supplier for all the reproduction balancers sold by the aftermarket. Buy new. |

Looks like Tom has you covered then.
At a glance it looked like a common balancer. |
