Fan verification
 

Hi all. Is this fan correct for a '66 GTO 335hp with A/C? It measures 19.5" across, and is what was on the engine in my car before I pulled it for restoration, but it was not the original engine and I have no idea what was carried over. Some photos I've seen online show a different blade design for A/C cars like mine, but it's hard to know what's right.

No not 66 335 hp with A/C. My car was one of these, all original when I bought it.

Fan is 7 blade, blade tip is more pointed, & blades are alum, 19.5".

A few years ago, I rigged up a test device to test air flow of a few different fans I had.
The above fan did poorly, worse than an 18" fan I had. Interesting that blade shapes changed over the years. Was it because they were inefficient?

So unless you want originality, I wouldn't chase down a 66 fan.

Thanks Geoff. To clarify, are you saying that the fan I have performed worse, or that an original '66 A/C fan performed worse?

My original 66 fan performed worse. I do not recognise the fan in your pic.

Gotcha, thanks. All I know about it is that the blades are aluminum and it was on a 1970 400ci RAIII engine that was in my car when I first got it. But if course i don't know if the fan was original to that engine, either.
