4 Speed Trans Crossmember
 

I was under my 65 hardtop GTO today and started thinking if I installed the crossmember correctly. I have it bolted to the top side of the bottom frame rail. Is that correct? Or should it be bolted to the bottom side of the bottom frame rail? I do have the rubber insulator sandwiched between the frame and the metal cap

Insulator sits on the upper side of the frame channel on a coupe or hardtop vehicle.
Trans cross member inserts into the isolator and a retention bracket bolts the isolator to the lower frame rail lip on the inside of the channel.

The mount does NOT sit below the frame. Retention Bracket, then rubber isolator, then lower channel of the frame rail.

Thanks Tom, Thats the way I have it as you described in the first part of your reply. I was just second guessing myself.

There is an advantage of being an old goat like some of us who have worked on these cars when they were all over the place. I can't think of too many other advantages, though!!
