AC firewall template

Does anyone know where i can get some kind of template for the ac housings cutouts in the firewall for a 69 gto? Ive got a non air car that im going to be putting factory air back it and know i will need to cut out the holes for it as well as close up the holes from the heater box and was hoping someone sold/has a template i could layout. Ive looked online with no luck so far. Thanks!

I have done that to a 68 GTO. Can be done well, and i had the benefit of a real metal firewall for a template.

A stiff template may work very well.

I went the other direction
Little know fact - the non ac firewall has a vertical rib stamped that the non ac doesn't have.

Wanna try that again?

See the rib?
It's not there on an AC firewall.
The stampings are different. Likely two different part numbers.

Wonder if one of the "Vintage Air" type places could help you out. They probably know more about swapping AC components than most.

I think you still missed it...unless I'm missing it? Not important but read your first statement again closely. You said 'non' AC in both examples. No biggie, just joking around.

I'm educating you
There are two different firewalls.
The non AC has the rib
The AC does not.
Different stampings

Yes, I got it from the initial post....I can't seem to get the joke across so I'll just let it go, not important at all.

Man scott, you're my hero lol. I dont know if you remember but i bought my hideaway headlight set up and my 4 speed set up off you. You're just the answer to any Pontiac problems i have. I would love some measurements from the firewall as ive failed to come up with them anywhere else.

I wonder if that driver side quarter window is any good....and if it's tinted..

Scott Thelander 02-06-2021 02:44 AM

yes its has tinted glass .....
but
you would have a very big leak in your car when it rains ...
the convert is about 4" short on the rear edge for your hardtop ...
sorry
Scott

passenger side glass's have a couple scratches that are tough to see :)

Greg Reid 02-06-2021 02:46 AM

Didn't realize they were different...makes sense though since now that I think about it there is no c-pillar so I guess that would have to be a completely different shape. I know the door glass is the same.

Jeez, wish I had a yard as purty as Scott's. :oogle:

Just for the record Greg, I got your joke. :o

Im back
so it quit raining for an hour today and I snapped a few pictures
and
made you a template ... on the template that should read 1/2 " not 1/4"
I trimmed the top to the shape of the cowl
and tucked it over against the fender bracket
ran afelt pen around the hole from inside and poked a nail thru the mount
holes.... I suppose u can cut the big rectangle hole out of the cardboard with
a utility knife then trace onto your firewall..cut to the outside of the black a tad
because i traced thru the hole
the heater core tube hole s may be tricky ...
the mount stud holes ..... once you trim the card board big hole
maybe lay the cardboard over your ac suitcase and do final adjustments ?

pm me your mailing information and I will get it in the mail if its somethin you could use
or
any other tidbits ?
