Speedmaster Pontiac Rocker Arms
 

Speedmaster now has roller rocker arms for Pontiac engines. Comments or thoughts on these?

I didn't realize they made so many different parts!
The rockers look nice.

I'm sticking with Harland-Sharps. I know they work.

I know nothing about them. But surprised about spring loads only up to 360 pounds.

With a failure point of only 360 lb you can bet the farm that they are deflecting and giving up ratio well before a load of 360 lbs is reached!

Even as stout and fat bodyied as Harland Sharp rockers are they over ratioed by a bunch so that in use they average out at there stated ratio even when loaded to there max lb rating.

Wow, those look weak. When they designed it they didn’t close in to top above the roller tip. 360 lbs, at least they appear to be honest, I would be nervous at 360. Lol

I would rather run a stock rocker than those

My experience with Harlen Sharp and there customer service has been AWESOME. I run them when we can..:)


Prw are cheap and rated for 750 lbs. (I wouldn’t trust them past 400).

Highly stressed aluminum parts are over built thick cross sections because of flex and fatigue, and if you ask me and I know you didn't, these rockers are pushing the boundries of cross sectional strength which any fair minded person would conclude if the work great at first they won't be in the fight long

To date the only roller rockers we've not had issues with have been Harland Sharp, Crane Gold Race, and Crower Enduro's.

ALL of the others that were sent here with engines to build, or we've put in use have had issues with fit, durability, or completely failed someplace.

There are certainly PLENTY of different offerings out there but when it comes to such important parts I'm staying as far away from anything with any "rice" associated with it as I can.....FWIW.......Cliff

I personally don’t trust scorpion rockers I have worked on two engines with failed rockers (cracked). And the guy brought a box of scorpions he had taken off the year before with one broke in half “maybe you can make a good set with these” my answer NO we are putting HS on it.

I've had the same set of Harland Sharpes in service since 2003 on 3 different engines and 3 different heads. I would sooner pay for a quality known part with excellent customer service then take a chance on a cheaper unknown part.
For all these new cheap parts out there..lets see a vendor show an example of customer who has used them in the real world...I want to see that guy with Speedmaster heads and these rollers put some miles on.

Even if they "some what" held up to what they are rated at...do you want to take a chance of having metal shavings circulating throughout your engine?

Thankfully when Cliff sees a specific brand of parts that turns out to be a turd floating to the top, he lets us all know!:pound:

I'll keep using the Crowers.

What was the prior name of the "Speedmaster" company before the name-change?

I'm thinking "Pro-Comp". Another lineup of junk.

If these were named pro comp would you still buy them ? Ill stick to my Crower SS rockers

I think that's exactly why they changed the company name--desperately trying to out-run a well-deserved reputation for selling nothing but crap.
