Fan spacer ? 69 RAIV
So I know the smooth spacer is said to be correct for 69 bird RAIV heard that a few places, I actually have both spacers with my car so wondering which was originally installed.
Kyles very original WH engine has the ribbed A body type spacer on its Firebird engine, and that seems to me to be pretty original so which is actually correct? |
The round one, same as all 400 cars.

This one...Firebird (T/A) 400 Only...1969 Only....

That’s the one,be careful when buying there is a Ford one that looks like it also. The Ford one is the same height and diameter but the bolt pattern is slightly smaller.

Thanks I already have one of each just wasn’t sure which one was correct. I saw one of the resto pics of the RAIV convertible (think the yellow one) w the other A Body type and then kyles engine same thing in YT video so started to second guess it.
Thank you for the help appreciate it. |
Weren’t these cars black between the uprights on the top of the cowl too? Camaros were body color there but we’re firebirds?
|
Not sure that I’m understanding the question correctly but my cowl is still in factory paint. The whole cowl is white with blackout on the vertical part ending at the bend and blue over spray from painting the dash top ending about an inch past the glass. The Camaro’s got the top of the cowl painted body color unless the car had stripes. If the car had stripes then the cowl would get painted the same color as the stripe. The two factories painted that area a bit different,LA
cars got to whole top of the cowl masked and painted edge to edge while the Norwood cars were spot painted and looked kind of messy compared to the LA.cars. |
That was what I was asking about upper middle portion of the cowl . The convertible I referenced was yellow in that area and down in the wiper transmission m/ linkage well so wasn’t sure what was correct. Firewall had already been painted in the picture so wasn’t sure why they’d leave that area yellow like a camaro.

Had a 4 blade fan too. |
I ran a cross something saying that spacer should be 1.88 inches long.
|
Yes....it’s exactly 1.88 inches.

Thanks Telly.
Was around 79-80, and sold 7 others in the 90's, so probly don't remember where it came from. May even be Chevy. |
Does anyone have one they'd sell? I need one for mine.
