Check out this interesting ‘Camaro’ at Barrett Jackson. I was wondering why on a Firebird they left the Chevy logos on the calipers, put an SS badge on the grill, installed a 5th gen interior- turns out it’s actually a camaro?

This car looked as if the running gear was swapped and nothing was changed- I guess cluttered is the word I’m looking for. Still had the factory intake elbow, factory coolant overflow bottle, all these factory items that obviously were not designed to fit in this engine bay.

This would be fine, but there was so much extra fabrication done to it in other parts of the car- converted to use struts up front? Custom 5th gen interior, giant brakes..... yet the engine is untouched and they leave the Camaro tail panel?

I dunno- at 80k + after taxes I want a little more consistency

I can't really tell how they did the crease line, or left it mismatched... Camaro line is on very back, Bird on front. Couple inch difference with Camaro high line. I find it interesting, but in the end it is a conversation piece car and if sold, the right ass for the seat thing sure applies.

Looks like they moved the ABS over, too? First time I’ve seen that.

What’s with the bike rack in the first picture?

I’ve seen worse, and at least they didn’t cut up a Pontiac.

The entire body is Firebird, just a Camaro tail panel.

the rear quarters on a Camaro have sharp creases on the "shoulders" and the rear wheel arches on a Camaro are flattened on top. That's definitely an entire Firebird body. Firebird door panels inside also, but the rest of the interior appears to be Camaro.

What a weird combination of parts/cars...

I have to admit that is one weird conglomeration of a Firemaro/Camarabird? One person's expression of what they felt was the best features of each car, I guess. Titled as a Camaro because that's where the "smart" money is. Now we will see if at least two other people in the country agree that this was a good idea! I would not be a player.

VIN is Chevrolet, so it's a Camaro.
I like several things:
1) Rear seats- reshaped, molded, and foldable.
2) E-brake handle- kinda oddly sized, but do-able.
3) Overhead console- I have been contemplating this for some time in my 74- especially the Nissan-styled ones. They are VERY useful.
4) The rear shoulder belts- nobody fits there, but if a kid/small person rode in the back, it'd be a nice safety feature.
5) Not sure what's going on w/ the cowl inlets, but it's interesting, if nothing else.

The VIN could have been switched. Looking at it I'd wouldn't give more than 5,000 for it.... well maybe even less. Then part it out. :D Looks like it was pulled from Schitt's Creek. But somebody bought it. :rolleyes:

I like it and I’m thinking it cost a lot more to build than it sold for.

Which doesn't change the fact that's a Firebird body. No reason a Firebird body couldn't have been hung on a Camaro chassis. The dash is Camaro, the taillight panel is Camaro, some of the interior is Camaro, some Firebird. The VIN doesn't really seem to matter at this point... LOL.

The Firebird and Camaro bodies have distinct differences. Compare them side by side if you ever get the chance and you'll see.
