1967 GTO value

So I have a guy that I have known for several years that has had a 1967 GTO sitting in his garage under a cover that is all original, numbers matching 4 speed car. He would never even talk to anyone about selling it as he would never consider it. he knows I love them so recently he called me and asked if I would by it from him and what would I give him for it. I have never actually seen the car but have always known he has had it and never driven it. What would you say it was worth? I know it would need work but looking fo what one may be worth that has sat inside for so may years. entertaining going to look at it to make an offer.

Thanks
Mark

I hope its a real jewel when the cover comes off.

If it looks like a brand new 1967 in 1967 , worth anywhere from 60-80k
Post Body maybe a little less
Convertible Body maybe a little more

Cant help with value, many here better versed. Post photos when you get to unveil it!

Be sure to take a CLOSE look at the car before making an offer. Often times a car can literally rot away while in storage, especially if kept in a moist environment such as in a building with a dirt floor, etc.

There's no way for anyone to provide a value without first verifying the claim of numbers matching and also a full inspection of the current condition. In short, you need to get your eyes on it.

Too many variables unknown at this point in time to make an educated guess.

Yup I told him all this over the phone that I can't say anything until I can see what he actually has. Now waiting for him to let me come take a look at it. Yes pictures would be a must. We will see.

Get the VIN # and spend the 70.00 ….for the PHS Docs. Then …that will tell you what the car originally came with.

FYI... I have not abandoned this thread.. my last conversation with the guy was when can I come and look.. he said next april when his wife is gone to florida.. hope you are not in a hurry. I said no I will wait as long it is not going to be sold otherwise.. so now waiting until April to see what is there. Strange relationship there..

If he doesn’t want his wife around when you see it, he probably doesn’t want her around when it leaves. My suggestion is to arrive prepared to leave with the car.

He must be one of those forgiveness is better than permission guys. I'd be surprised if she didn't notice a whole car was missing...or maybe he just doesn't want her to know how much he gets?

Probably both.. I now he has had the car long before she was ever around so it is only in his name..

Like everything else, prices go up and PHS is no exception. Really kick myself for not getting the paperwork years ago when it was $50.

Now $85 and only available by email. $100 for expedited services.

I wouldn’t buy PHS for a 67 until after I saw the car as you may not even need it depending on what you find when you get there.

Hell you may find a pop in the glovebox or a build sheet.

Or, if the price is low it may not even be relevant.

After that PHS price jack a while back I’ll only order it for cars I absolutely need it for, and that scenario hasn’t come up since. $100 can still buy a part or two (at least for now) or a tank of gas.
