Does anyone have any info on how the rear window defogger in wired up?
I have not been able to find any dwgs for this unit. There are relays for sale on
media that are for 69 defogger. Can't find any dwgs that show this hookup.
Thanks for your help in advance. Also think I may need another working dash switch.. Regards, Frank69

Need which model it is?
And is this the wired glass one or the package shelf blower?

Here are some pics.

Still don't know what model of car you have. These are Pontiac big car, Tempest and Firebird.

The relay is used for the electric grid defroster only.
The blower type defroster is connected directly to the switch with a special resistance harness.

The harness from the switch to the motor consists of two wires at the switch end, one is the 'white' low speed resistance wire that is spliced into the 'purple' high speed non-resistor wire internally in the harness. The resistance wire drops the voltage to the motor. The harness becomes one wire when connecting to the motor.

The photo shows the 68 Tempest version.

Thank you so much for the Fig 15-30 Rear Window Defogger Firebird! Only one I have seen. I don't quiet understand it completely.
Does the brown wire go into the adapter then plug into the fuse box for power? Info that I have says the white and purple are merged together to form a reduction in power and the purple continues to the motor.for power. Does this sound right?
Thanks again, No Manuels or firebird info I have seen shows this! Frank 69

Thanks for the Firebird Defog Only one I have ever seen. Frank60

johntal, Thanks for the 69 Firebird Dwg. Fig. 15-30. This is only one of these I have seen. Question, does the brown wire connect
to the adapter, then plugs into fuse box for power? Dwg shows 2 wires to blower, is one wire purple and one white? There is only one purple wire in trunk for blower and a ground wire to body from blower. Is this white wire spliced into the purple? if so does it matter
how long the white wire is before splice. Can't find any thing that tells how much power this small blower mtr requires.
Thanks for ylur help in advance, Good luck, Frank69

Have the defog hooked up agin and it needs some help On low speed it runs ok , Hi speed it seems to run too fast! I think it must be the wire thats needed in the harness to reduce the power. Got to decide what to do next! Thanks for all your help and
information. Good luck, Frank69

Have defoger installed again. Noise problem solved with a fan change. Seemed to be out of balance. Works normal and for now will
test it often . and for now call it done! Thanks for all your assistance and good luck to all! Frank 69

Thank you for your help and advise with my defog problem. Was lucky and found another exactly like the one i had. With your
assistance I now have a better understanding of this accessory and the hookup. I would think there is a way to install a small
relay in this cable from switch to motor. I can't find what the power requirement is to run the motor properly. I should contact Delco
for this info. Have unit hooked up, it works ok so I am going to test it only from time to time. Car will never be driven when the
defog would be needed. Switch was a nos when I installed it and looks great in the dash.. Thank you again! Frank69
