70-72 Trans am Shaker Color..
Need to know...what would be considered "correct" color for a white TA...with blue stripes and shaker.....Thanks

Rocky Rotella's book on the subject sez 1967 Tyrol Blue is the best match for correctness.

The correct color for that shaker is Lucerne Blue. It does not match the stripe color very well, but, thats the way they were built.

Mine is Lucerne Blue. Doesn't match perfectly, but it's not super noticeable.

Just to point out to those that may not have the book, the actual blueprints for the blue stripes (for white car) notes that the stripe color is to match Tyrol Blue and it includes instructions that the shaker is painted to match.
I’ve documented two original-paint Polar White 1970 Trans Ams and the shaker on both appeared closer to Tyrol than Lucerne. And they were pretty close to the stripe color. I can’t say they were all that way but based on the blueprints, that’s at least what Pontiac intended. Most likely to streamline production, it appears the shaker on the 1971-1972 cars were painted Lucerne Blue. |
