Thoughts on this cam?

With all cam core shortages,6 week delays etc I bought this Howard's cam, going into a 400,.030 icons with 4x4h heads which are being converted to 2.11 intakes, stock intake,Quadrajet, log manifolds according to butlers compression calculator I should be at 9-1 with a zero deck and having the heads decked to 98cc,I understand those calculators aren't 100% accurate but it should be in ball park

Looks pretty good to me.

Looks similar to a small Voodoo.

Should make lots of low & mid range power.

If that's where you want your power range, it should work OK, IMO.

But if you want max high rpm power & to "leave nothing on the table", that cam is too small, IMO.

Less seat duration, just about the same 0.050" duration and more lift than the Pontiac 524886 cam.

Have you CC’ed those heads yet?
If they are late 73 casting dates then they may have started life at 114 CCs, to then get to 98 CCs would call for milling them down .096” !!!

The Voodoo cam linked above has less seat timing. And probably more .200" duration, the Howards cam on the intake is listed with 125 at .200"

The Howards cam is listed on page 5 here with a 112 LSA:

That'll be a pretty mild cam. Similar to factory 068 @ .050". Strong lower-midrange power, done by 5000-5200 RPM.
