Are replica( cheaper) M18 Milwaukee batteries any good?

Milwaukee makes a nice LED floodlight for not a lot of money but comes w/o batteries so I would have to buy batteries and a charger since I have no Milwaukee stuff except a bore scope ( different battery)

What’s your feeling on aftermarket Milwaukee batteries or other makes for that matter?

I'm not absolutely sure which m18 batteries you are asking about but I have quite a few Milwaukee battery operated things including m18 size, with real m18 batteries running them, and it is a great system IMO and the batteries last for years.

I bought two of the M18 knockoffs a few years back. They work but couldn't go head to head even with several year old Milwaukee battery of the same AH.

If you are not using them on a professional level then the knockoffs should be fine.

Milwaukee here also got old 18v I left in cold garage last winter found it in june. Seems to have charged up ok. I can't guess how old some of mine are,10 plus yrs at least. I bought ryobi at HD yard battery tools. Have trouble with batteries if they arent kept charged. Ck internet on problems. No more ryobi here!!

I know Milwaukee makes really good stuff. I have a few DeWalt tools and they are Ok but “Old Milwaukee” is excellent so are their tools!!!

Try Amazon. The last couple of Bosch batteries (18V) I bought came from there.

Nothing beats Ridgid, had 18 volt drill for 7 years and batteries went bad. Called the company and had two brand new ones in less than a week. Lifetime warranty including batteries.

What light are you referring to? We use a lot of milwaukee stuff at work. Just started that way, once you get a tool and batteries its hard to switch. I have a tripod 'tower' light from milwaukee. It was around $200 but it will light a room up. 1000% better than the old halogen light trees. It will run on battery power but we always plug it in. Last much longer. SO, unless you need it run on battery not really a necessity.

This is the light I was thinkin about. Northern has it got $79.., but by the time I buy a battery and charger it’ll be $179.!!! I have a 250 watt halogen “arm burner” so maybe later on the led…

Funny this should show up yesterday as I just acquired a used 1/2 impact and was wondering about battery life.
pulled the impact out of it's hiding place as found that both batteries still have a charge, believe to have been sitting
for a few years. might be useful at home.

A few weeks back I saw an article where Dewalt 20v batteries to the equivalent AH off brands. In no case did the off brands perform as well as the Dewalt batteries. In some cases they substantially underperformed. I suspect the same is likely true for Milwaukee.

I'm an avid fan of the 18V dewalt stuff I have had for years. The factory XRP batteries are no longer available. I wish I knew beforehand that they were dropping them, Id have bought more spares. Ive heard the same of aftermarket replacements being crap. Ive also seen the "repair and rebuilding" videos on the batteries themselves, and its skill set is something I currently am capable of, so that will probably be my next course of action, but it looks like a good time investment in doing the fix. The 20v adapter business seems to be not problem-free from what I can also gather. Pawn shops have no "shortage" of dead or dying batteries but they'll never admit it.

This is the one we have. Runs on battery or you can plug a cord into it. I have one milwaukee battery out of probably a dozen that is bad after years of use. I also have a makita screw/impact gun that gets used on a daily basis. I have replaced it a couple of times and have 6 or so batterys for that one. They are all doing good. Its so now when the gun goes bad I get the replacement for around $100 with no charger and batteries. There is an Amish guy in my area that rebuilds the batterie packs but I have never had to use that service.

Never had a Makita but I’ve heard only good things about them!

I’m just a dumb hillbilly so I have a 500 Watt halogen fixture mounted on a piece of vertical 1/2” black iron pipe. Then the pipe screws into a 1/2” pipe flange that I have bolted to an old disc brake rotor. Works fine but a little heavy and really makes my electric meter hum!!!!!
Yur Milwaukee flood light is a nice piece and I like the fact that is is both A/C and D/C!
