Very cool

Always liked those. There is a silver one sitting on a concrete slab in the front yard of a house near me. Been there for at least 18 or 20 years that I've been driving down that road. It looks very solid. A few weeks ago I noticed that somebody had raised the hood... a week or so later when I passed by it was still up.
It must not have been deteriorating fast enough for them

Someone just HAD TO see what was under there. If you can raise it a couple of
inches, that's enough to snap some pics. But no... instead, they force the hood
all the way open. Except hinges rarely co-operate when it comes time to lower
the hood. And their curiosity has now been addressed. It was just some bread
and butter motor, not the 427 SOHC they had hoped for.

I spent close to half an hour getting stubborn hinges to the point where the
hood could be raised and lowered reasonably well. Nobody has time for that.

This one has been inside away from the hood poppers. Thank goodness.

Owners are supposed to let me know what they are going to do this week.

Original owner was a lady here in town. Her lawyer ended up with it and didn't drive it much.

Going to check if the original owner is still living.

Would be cool to see it back on the road.

One of my first cars was a '68 T-Bird. My brother gave it to me. The trans would slip a little when cold,but after warn up it was a brute for a 16yo kid. "429" engine.
Odd thing I found was I could set the cruise control to 80mph come to a stop hit resume and it would do a burn out and race to 80mph.

My dad owned a few Fords in the 60s and 70s, he liked the 390 engines. He also had a dealer's license and operated a small garage part time, so a lot of different cars came and went over the years. One of those was a 1965 T-bird. Dad had a thing for Burgundy cars, his favorite was a 64 Ford Galaxie. Anyway, my mom drove the car much more than dad.

Frames on these are very commonly ROTTED bad....
I like the "swing away" steering column. My GP had one similar.

I'll say... looks really good.

I always liked the 64-66 birds. My uncle had a '66 with the 428? Black, white interior. The back seat was more of a couch.

Rear spark plug on the driver's side was a bitch to reach. Wipers were hydraulic, operated from the PS pump.

Sequential turn signals were operated by a motor driven cam, actuating switches in a bulky assembly. There also was another assy with relays to switch over from brake to directional function. This was all under the package tray in the trunk.

Just happened to have an appointment that took me past the car l mentioned. It actually looks a lot better than this to the naked eye. Looks like primer but it's actually silver-ish.

My uncle had a new gold one just like that. He smoked giant smelly Cubans all the time in it.

I still have the white one my dad gave me.
Sitting in a box somewhere. It's a promo model.

The 1964 through 1966 Thunderbirds are my favorites! I'm surprised that I never owned one.

Promo wise, I do have one of each year 64-66.
