62 GP Test Wiper Motor

With wiper motor unplugged is there a simple way to test wiper motor with a meter?

This is a two speed wiper motor with a three prong connector. I’ve figured out the center pole of the connector is on off the ignition key. Im guessing two outer poles of the connector are low and high windings and are grounded off the position of the wiper switch. Can I check the motor by reading from the center to each winding?

Found a schematic, looks like my wipers are frozen in park. Looks like that you opens circuit?

There is a 1961 Pontiac shop manual at the Old Car Manual website, this is a link to the electrical section that includes troubleshooting for the windshield wipers. It should be the same as 1962. http://pontiac.oldcarmanualproject.c...cal/page1.html

Found a guy that rebuilds them then sells them in ebay, bought one and installed it, works great!

You can also try Restoration Service in IL. I believe his name Steve Hackel. His website is restorationservice.net. I had my wiper motor rebuilt in my '64 GP by him a few years ago. He not only rebuilt the wiper motor but restored it. Replated and refinished the parts and then bench tested it to make sure it worked before he sent it back to me. This was a few years ago, but he restored/rebuilt my wiper motor for less than I would have paid to get a rebuilt one from NAPA. Good luck!
