Neutral Safety Start Switch on a Stick?

I'm in the process of putting a '67 GTO restomod together, and was wondering did Pontiac use the neutral safety start switch on manual transmission cars? I can think of a few instances with my prior '67 where I hit the starter with the car in gear and fortunately I never hit anything or anyone. So I can grasp the concept.

Though it doesn't specifically say in the Pontiac shop manual that the switch is only used on automatics, the only wiring diagram references are to automatics.

So I guess the short question is: Is there any reason to have or not have it on a manual? FYI, I'm running a Tremec TKO-600 and have the switch.

Clutch pedal start switches were standard on all 69 and up manual transmission cars. Pedal had to be pushed in to start. Before then, common sense was used, especially after the first time you tried to start the engine in gear.

Common sense. What a concept.
