What's not working Ken?

Mine is a Van Dorn and probably WWII vantage. I don't think anyone is going to have parts for it when it finally takes a dump.....this is a pic of the model that I have. I already had to replace the electric motor on the back of it. Had to make a custom bracket for it. Making parts may be the last option for some of these older models as parts are difficult if not near impossible to find these days...

Good luck, Ken. Any parts for the B & D valve grinders are hard to come by. They’re great machines, but B & D didn’t support them well when even they were in production.

I would like to help you if possible. Could you post specifically what is wrong with the valve grinder. We have many, many small machine shops going out of business all over this part of the country. I have seen more than 1 B&D valve grinder go directly to the scrap yard along with some ancient Souix machines. And you can still get some parts for them. Biggest issue with the old machines is the valve stem runnout from old worn out chucks. Even on our old collet chuck machine, we have to dial indicate every stem before we can grind. Again, happy to help if I can.

There are no broken parts on the machine. I took it apart because there was no oil flow to the valve. I found out when I got in there, it had a simple slinger type pump. I could have blown air into the nozzle and cleared it. Now it's a true basket case. I was hoping to find a repair shop to put the thing back together, only if the runout on the chuck could be zeroed. It's a three jaw chuck , not like the newer ball chuck.

I have two old Sioux machines and the runout on the chuck is a problem on them.

Goodson sells a replacement chuck collet for the Black & Decker. I believe the price is around $229. I replaced the chucks on both of my Kwik Way valve grinders with Lacey Williams chucks. Both produce run out of .0003. Well worth the cost.
