dual snorkel ram air aircleaner assembly
 

This is probably a stupid question but: I just got my reproduction Ram air, air cleaner.
and it seems the rubber boots are sliping out of the ratiner rings that hold them to the underside of the hood rather easy.
I have to hook the tiny lip of the boots back into the ring almost every drive.

Have i mounted the boots or retainer wrong or is some kind of adhisive needed?

Good news is that the air cleaner clears a holley sniper with a 1/4" aircleaner spacer.
And it clears a thomahawk/hurricane singleplane intake with said aircleaner spacer, i have about 3/8" clerance form the centerpoint of the aircleaner to the hood. (without a an aircleaner element inside (inside space is about 60 mm)

I had the same problem with mine. I used some of that 3m black adhesive you would use on the trunk weather strip molding.

You could also try cleaning the groove in the boot with lacquer thinner to remove the slick stuff they put on them to make them pop out of the mold.

yeah, that makes sense, did not cross my mind.

The originals ( and I have owned and used a bunch, used and NOS ) are, were, Very stiff. You had to pretty much pry them off the ring, and they had one more "below" on them
that the repops dont. The originals had a fiber in the rubber similar to a fan belt. The repops do NOT last with the underhood heat and will crack and fall apart on the external seams.
You may be able to put some 303 on the edges.
The original boots are THE reason why the 70 units had support brackets on the base.

Aha, mine are definitely soft all the way down to edge where they seal against the aircleaner there is seems like a metal ring with some weigth to it is bonded in the rubber.

I replaced mine 30 years ago and I still have the originals (My car is a 72) and the repops were identical to the originals except maybe the originals used a stiffer rubber (Hard to say because I replaced them because they were stiff and trained) and the originals do not look like you describe. They don't have any kind of fiber.

Maybe what you are describing is 70 only...And 72's don't have the support bracket either.
