1969 gto yellow wire on ignition switch

Im installing a painless wiring harness in my 69 gto and it doesnt have the heavy yellow wire connected to the ignition switch like my stock harness had. Anyone know where that original wire went? My old harness is horribly hacked so its a bad reference.

Yellow from ignition switch is IGN-2/crank/non-resisted.

It ties into IGN-1/run/resisted at the firewall/bulkhead connector.

Then a single wire from firewall out to coil +.

Just to add to Clay's post, the purpose it serves is to send 12 volts to the points during starter cranking to give a amplified/hotter spark when cold for easier start ups. When the key returns to the ignition position, it then becomes resisted again, and drops back to approximately 7 volts, as to give the contacts in the distributor longer life.

It should be in the system for that reason. Of course the system can function without it, but you could notice longer crank times on a cold engine. It would probably be a good idea to keep that part of the system operable.

So I wired in a msd 7 box with the reccomended coil and and pro billet distributer using the trigger wire for the msd box that painless suggest using. So I can just forget about that wire I assume? Thanks for the help! Also if anyone knows im using an aftermarket shifter so do I need to attach the two purple wires to the column mounted Neautral safety/ reverse switch or can I just connect those together? I plan on wiring my reverse safety switch up to the shifter.
